Jeb Barton has been educating 350,000 Center of Science and Industry visitors a year about the coal mining industry since he began his work in 1973.

"He is truly tireless, giving his account of the evolution of coal mining, from its roots to the 1980s, dozens of times a day."

...Robert E. Hess, vice president of international sales for Jeffrey Mining Machinery, explained why his company sponsors the COSI coal mining exhibit:

"We symbolize an industry that is important in everyone's daily lives. Plus, we as a company have a certain obligation to do community support," Hess said.

Jeffrey also said it was important for people not to take coal production for granted."
